“Don’t use social media to impress people; use it to impact people.”— DAVE WILLIS,
The inspiration behind this Blog came from the struggles I have experienced
with people and social networks. Charlamagne the God is a co-host on the
nationally syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club. Not long ago he said
something along the lines “people wake up every day, check social media to see
how they should feel and act on any given day.” This was the hammer on the nail
like the old heads say. Social media has taken over the world and not
necessarily in a positive sense. Social media networks have caused people to
lose their individuality and copy choices by peers and influencers. No Identity
Left exists to make this aware and get clarity on the pros and cons of the
media world. People are really giving up on their own identity to become like
everyone else around them. It is funny how strangers can affect your entire
existence, the way you walk, talk, dress, shop and even your relationships with
family and friends. Social media was created to help people connect digitally
with friends. Ironically, people are tarnishing their relationships with
friends to keep up with strangers disguised as friends.
Social media allows you to hide behind your true self and become anyone you
want to be. What ever happened to self-esteem and self-worth if we cannot even
be who God created us to be? If I did not know any better, I would assume that
we are all living this perfect life. People are just walking around hiding
their imperfections while exposing other people’s perfections. People thrive
off the companionship of others in person and online, but the strength in our
connections plays a vital role in our mental health. We replace real-life
connections with social interaction via the internet. While these companies are
making money off our interactions we become “slaves to our phones”. My question
to you is What are we missing? Are you using social media to substitute real
life? or does social media leave you feeling inadequate or disappointed about your own
life that you want to live another persons life? Let Us Chat!
